Things you didn’t know about Padel
Padel originated in the city of Acapulco, Mexico. A businessman named Enrique Corcuera built the first padel court in his holiday home when he was trying to keep the balls from flying into his neighbour´s backyard.
He called the sport Paddle Corcuera – and the rest is history.
Spanish Entrepreneur Alfonso de Hohenlohe, a close friend of Enrique, played a crucial role in transforming padel into an international sport.
During his visit to Mexico in 1974, Hohenlohe was captivated by this exciting new game and decided to bring it to Spain’s Costa del Sol. He established the country’s first two padel courts at the Marbella Club.
The introduction of these courts sparked interest among the elite members of the club, including tennis star Manolo Santana, who secured four Grand Slam titles.
Subsequently, as more clubs constructed their own courts, padel tournaments flourished along the Costa del Sol.
Padel as an alternative of tennis
Is your kid not showing any interest in tennis but you still want them to try a racket sport? Maybe padel is the key!
Padel, also known as paddle tennis, is a fantastic alternative for kids who may not be drawn to traditional tennis. Padel is a great way for children to improve their coordination, agility, and strategic thinking in a fun and social setting. With its easy-to-learn rules and emphasis on teamwork, padel can be an exciting new adventure for your child to explore. Who knows, they might just discover a new passion on the padel court!
